HAIR

Gentlemen:
Welcome to 1953! In order for you to be camera ready, you need 1953 period hair. Please visit a barber (we will reimburse you on your voucher!) and ask them to think "old school" and use the guidelines listed below. If your hair doesn't look like '53, we can't use you. Thanks in advance for helping us make a picture-perfect movie!

Guidelines:

  • Middle parts, side parts, or straight back are great.
  • Sideburns should be a smidge higher than the middle of the ear.
  • Sides and back should be tapered
  • Back of the head (the neckline) should be tapered& a natural hairline- no blocked edges, or squared off- just a nice tapered natural hairline.

  • For the men and women with bleach blonde foiled or highlighted hair, please purchase ROUX hair rinse or mousse in either FRIVIOUS FAWN or PLUSH BROWN at Sally's Beauty Shop Supply and apply to hair to camouflage obvious highlights.

    Ladies:
Welcome to 1953! Thanks so much for going back in time with us. It's going to be great! To help the hair department, you must come to set with your hair already set in rollers so that we can just comb you out and style your hair to perfection!

    See Diagram

There are two acceptable ways to do this:
    1) Hot electric rollers

    OR

    2) A wet-set which requires doing it the night before.
Either way you choose, if you do a wet-set, your hair must be dry when you arrive or we can't use you. If you use hot rollers, they can't be hot when you arrive.

When setting your hair, use product (setting spray, hair spray or mousse) before rolling the hair so that it has memory and stays curled after the rollers are removed.

For the men and women with bleach blonde foiled or highlighted hair, please purchase ROUX hair rinse or mousse in either FRIVIOUS FAWN or PLUSH BROWN at Sally's Beauty Shop Supply and apply to hair to camouflage obvious highlights.

    Makeup:
    • Women should come wearing their foundation only.
    • No French manicures.
    • No squared off false fingernails.
    • No nail polish.
